Welcome to the Michelham Private Patients Unit
As a Unit, we believe that we should care for the whole person in a holistic manner, in an environment that is conducive to patient and staff safety. We should respect the individuality of each patient and provide them with tailored care to meet psychological, physiological, social, cultural and spiritual needs.
To achieve this, all staff including consultants, nursing, therapists, hotel services, administration and finance, work as a team, communicating effectively. The team will ensure that the Unit has a friendly, cheerful and caring atmosphere where all patients, visitors and colleagues entering the unit, feel welcome.
As a team, we offer our patients and their relatives/carers/friends support and help. We recognise the importance of the patients’ right to privacy, honesty, dignity and confidentiality and to ensure that each person receives care that is non-judgemental and unbiased.
We aim to be the patients’ advocate at all times. When decisions are made, the patient is informed and has a full understanding of their condition. We feel it is an important responsibility of ours to keep each patient and close family/carer informed about their hospital stay including finances, ongoing investigations and treatment.
The success of Michelham depends on
co-operation and good communication. Therefore, we offer each other respect and trust and demonstrate loyalty to the Unit. We aim to create an atmosphere where everybody feels valued, respected and welcome, whilst promoting the Unit and its facilities.
We encourage a learning environment for all staff members and students. This will help to create a ‘team’ atmosphere where everyone on the Unit is striving together to achieve the same goals.
