Patient Information

Pre-admission
Together with your booking letter, you will receive the following:
Pre-admission form (requesting personal details)
Undertaking to pay form (requesting financial information)

Please return these forms, fully completed, as soon as possible in the prepaid envelope. If however, you are being admitted at short notice, please bring the forms with you.

What to bring with you
Please bring with you whatever you require for a stay away from home.
Medication - Bring with you all your current medication and pass to your nurse upon admission.
X-Rays - Relating to your procedure
Toiletries - These are provided in your room
Books & Magazines - Please bring your own reading material. You may however, purchase magazines or newspapers daily which can be arranged by our Reception staff.
Valuables - Please inform your nurse upon admission if you wish to deposit valuables.

Your Room
All our bedrooms are equipped to a very high standard and have en-suite bathrooms. Nurse ‘call-bells’ are situated beside the beds and inside the bathrooms. Satellite TV and telephones are provided. On admission, you will be given a personal telephone number to enable your family and friends to contact you directly.

Hotel Services
A comprehensive A la Carte menu is available and the Unit is licensed to sell alcohol. Please let us know in advance if you have any special dietary requirements, food allergies, etc. If you celebrate a birthday or anniversary during your stay, special occasion cakes may be ordered.

Visitors
Visitors are welcome at any time until 9.30 pm. Restrictions will only apply at the request of the patient or the clinical team.

Discharge
On the day of your discharge, you would normally expect to vacate your room by 10.30 am. However on occasion, clinical requirements may cause the time to vary. Please discuss this or any personal issues regarding your discharge with the duty Nurse in charge or Consultant.

Post and Messages
You can receive mail from your family and friends. Please ensure that they address it to you with your full name, together with the name of the Unit. We will deliver your mail directly to your room as soon as it arrives.

Spiritual Care
Clergy visits by various denominations can be arranged upon request. Also, the Unit is situated next door to the Chapel, should you or your family and friends wish to visit.

Pets
With the exception of Guide Dogs, the Unit operates a ‘No Pets’ policy.

Shopping
The Friends of East Sussex Hospitals shop and florist are on site (located by the main entrance of the hospital). In addition, the friends also visit the Unit with the Trolley shop.
